Setting up the DX Onboarding bot for MS Teams
Setting up the DX Onboarding bot for MS Teams
Updated this week

Introduction

To get qualitative onboarding insights, DX sends developers a short survey that is filled out directly in Microsoft Teams. This article takes you through the steps to set up the MS Teams bot for sending DX onboarding surveys.

Steps to set up the bot

1. Download the DX Onboarding bot file from the in-app onboarding setup page. This file contains the configuration to set up a notification-only bot in MS Teams.

2. In Microsoft Teams, go to the "Apps" settings for your team.

3. Click "Upload a custom app", and use DX's configuration file. If "Upload a custom app" is unavailable, check your permission policies to make sure you're able to add a custom app.

If you use App centric management, make sure that the app is available to Everyone or Specified users and groups that includes the team you're installing it to. Once the app is installed, you should be able to access this page at https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/manage-apps/7e3b54dd-af24-4a21-93e8-7717bc40e629/assignments

Important: If your organization requires custom applications to be allowlisted under "Permission policies", make sure to add "DX Onboarding".

4. If the bot was installed correctly, you should see the "Configure bot" step marked as complete in DX.
