DX captures self-reported DORA metrics using adapted versions of the original questions from DORA research. However, DX’s benchmarks differ from those published by DORA and are generally considered more stringent.
There are two main reasons for this:
Larger dataset: DX benchmarks are based on a significantly broader dataset than that used in DORA research.
Modern delivery practices: DX's data reflects a customer base that leans more heavily toward modern software delivery methods, while DORA’s benchmarks include a higher proportion of regulated organizations, which may have slower delivery practices.
